Grand Forks Snow Removal is owned by Joshua and Monica Wellington. We have two twin boys and we live here in town. We love Grand Forks, ND and now consider ourselves to be “from” North Dakota. Often times people ask us why did you move here? They say why would you leave California for North Dakota? I tell them a long list of reason like lower crime rates, cleaner air, better schools, no traffic, etc etc. But the #1 reason is that North Dakota is hands down a better place to raise children than California. We cannot guarantee service by a certain time because we have no control over the weather. Our service contracts are triggered automatically after 1 inch of snow has fallen in a 24 hour period. However, for most storms we do not begin making our rounds until it has completely stopped snowing. How we handle small storms, large storms, blizzards, and hazardous weather varies. Our methods vary depending on when the storm begins and how long it lasts.
Larger Storms: When there is an exceptionally heavy snowfall that extends over multiple days we will make a single pass (for driveways only) once each day until the storm has completed. On the final day of the storm our crews will wait until the storm has completed to make their final pass. Then our city sidewalk crew will start their rounds after the driveways have been completed.
Blizzards: During severe weather conditions such as blizzards, high winds, super low wind chills, etc. it is likely that you will experience significant delays in service timing. During these storms it is typical for businesses, schools, government offices, etc to be shut down and city plows tend to have trouble keeping even the main roads open. In these situations we work as hard as we can to get there as soon as we can. You can expect updates via text messages and email. We have a dispatcher who answers the phones and responds to your emails. The best way to reach us during a storm is to email support@gfsnowremoval.com.
We use compact and sub compact tractors with snow blowers and heated cabs. This allows us to provide excellent service in most weather conditions. We have posted a video of one of our tractors in action on this page and also on our Youtube Channel.
Applying Salt or Ice Melt is not included in our service contracts but can be provided for an additional fee. During the 2023 – 2024 season we offered ice melt after a large ice storm covered our city.
We offer ice removal and driveway scraping as separate one time services. These services are not included in any of our service contracts.
If the city plow comes after we have cleared your driveway and leaves a large ridge or pile of snow that many people refer to as “the berm” just let us know either by calling or texting and we will come back and fix it for free.

Sometimes it is necessary for us to take sample measurements from different sections of the city on our own because the weather service has not updated their website.
No. We make no promise or guarantee that your driveway or sidewalks will be slip free. We only clear the snow using snow blower and possibly a plow in an emergency situation.
No. The reason we do not issue refunds once the season has started is that we purchase expensive equipment and supplies, hire employees, and budget maintenance costs based upon the needs of all who purchase service agreements. Once this money is spent it can’t be unspent. Therefore we cannot issue refunds without putting our business in jeopardy of going bankrupt. This is why we make every effort to communicate clear expectations from the very beginning.
We do not include shoveling as part of our service agreements. We do provide this service to a very limited number of customers. Mostly for customers who are on vacation and want it to appear they are still at home.

Our seasonal price is calculated based upon new snow fall events. Snow that blows into your driveway after the event is over and service has been provided is not included. Additional services are available at a discounted price for our customers with service contracts.
Yes, our tractor operators will be installing the driveway markers the week of October 15th. This is included in our service contracts.
